Fire Storm 2007 Hits San Diego

Jan and I were most fortunate during the Fires of October 2007.

We were evacuated on Monday morning and went to stay with her folks in La Mesa. We watched in horror was neighborhoods we know, and I have lived in, went up in minutes.

We were out of our home for three days, not knowing if we had a homes to return to.

At one point, the fires were within hundreds of yards from our house. Additionally, the fire was heading towards the dental office. I could not even fathom how to proceed with neither home nor practice.

All told, there were thousands of home lost, over 500,000 people evacuated, and even now, five months later, many lots sit vacate.

We had over a dozen friends who were not as fortunate, many fleeing their home with the clothes on their back.

This was my son's best friends home. Disasters like this put things in perspective. We are very lucky.
