How Do I Find a Great Cosmetic Dentist?

How Do I Find a Great Cosmetic Dentist?

Well... good luck. Every single dentist who has ever done a "white filling" now professes to be a "cosmetic dentist". Seems like every dental office I pass proclaims “Cosmetic and Family Dentistry” Yes, I know, the later term has baffled me for 30 years also).

Here are the facts. There are NO cosmetic dentistry specialists. Unlike oral surgeons, periodontists, or other recognized "specialists" there is no credentialing for a cosmetic dentist. Every dentist can claim to be one. "Holly Gum Disease Batman, how would one decide?"

Here are a few hints:
First, find some dentist who is REALLY into cosmetics. His own smile should be perfect (why would you go to a crappy smile guy to get yours done?)

Are his families’ and staff member’s smiles outrageous? Why not? Perhaps a lack of confidence in the ability to perform?

Is the reception area like a sitting room in a well-appointed salon in Del Mar, or an inner city emergency hospital room?

Get a complimentary consult. Make him show you before and after photos of your EXACT concerns. Make sure he is showing you his own un-retouched patients. Good dentistry and good Photoshopping are two different talents.

Go to his web site. There is not a fantastic cosmetic dentist who doesn't have a killer web site. Visit. Explore. Investigate. Ask for referrals.

Inquire about continuing education taken to improve skill levels. Ideally a dentist takes hands-on courses, taught by the best in the world.

Remember the bitterness of a poor result lingers much longer than the flush of a cheaper deal. If you wish to have someone with a passion for cosmetics evaluate your smile, please give Dr Coleman a call. YOU are worth it.
